Rush Limbaugh is with the terrorists. Sean Hannity, with the terrorists. The Wall Street Journal, with the terrorists.
So, this right-wing freakazoid Richard Miniter wrote a book popularizing the lie that Sudan offered the Clinton administration bin Laden's head on a plate but the administration repeatedly refused the offer. The lie is one concocted by the Sudanese government.
Yes, that Sudan - the same Sudan that's on our list of state sponsors of terror. Yes, the same government that recently murdered millions of it's own citizens in Darfur.
But Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, the Wall Street Journal and a bunch of other right-wingers think Sudan's outrageous claim makes pretty good material. One cannot take these people seriously. What the hell?

What can you expect? These are the same sort of people who thought it was "un-American" to speak out against the fascists going into the Spanish civil war in 1936. They are the same types who had business dealings with the Nazis. Why is it surprising that they would have quams about dealing with another government thats comitting genocide. Besides, it's just a bunch of "niggers" being killed off and you know how Rush feals about "them" the sanctimonious, druggy fuck.
Oh, and about Clinton. I didn't particularly like Clinton, I didn't care for his version of the "Patriot Act" much more than the far worse one enacted post 9/11. In hindsight it would have been prefferable to what we got but i'm one of those keen on civil liberties kind of folk. I think the best way for terrorists to win is to make us do what they want us to. Damned if we arn't looking a lot like a theoracy lately.
So the conservatives cry Clinton was weak on terrorism. The same conservatives derided Clinton for what they called draconian attempts to curtail our civil rights. I remember the anger that I felt at the time. (part of my anger was at having to agree with the wingnuts) What short fucking memories we humans seem to have.
It would also be interesting to know what sorts of things our intelligence agencies were doing. I would be quite surprised if some part of our massive inteligence buget didn't find its way into the hands of Sudanese officials in an attempt to get there hands of Bin Laden. Then again we might not have because he was an emerging threat at teh time.
