It's simple: Bush worship
Yes,
The rush to war was premised on the assumption that the judgment of the Bush administration (and Sullivan) was superior to that of professional weapons inspectors like Hans Blix. This turned out to be false. Now, the foot-dragging on global warming is premised on the assumption that the judgment of the Bush administration (and Sullivan) is superior to that of the global scientific community.

We interrupt this blog for a moment of global cooling
Let's say global warming is a crock - not caused by human activity and not even happening at all. What would be some arguments against, for instance,
- Replacing your incandescent light-bulbs with long lasting compact fluorescents and coming out ahead in electricity bills, light-bulb replacement costs and usually light quality.
- Walking instead of driving short trips, saving gas money, decreasing traffic congestion, saving wear and tear on your car and boosting your cardiovascular health.
- Recycling as much of your waste as possible, decreasing landfill sprawl.
- Keeping an eye on your car's tire pressure, saving gas costs.
- Planting a couple trees, beautifying your property or community.
- Being conscientious about turning off electrical stuff unless you're using it, adding to the lifetime of your electrical stuff and saving energy costs.
And on the policy side,
- Encouraging production and use of biodiesel, which in energy costs related to production is 280% more efficient than producing gasoline.
- Aggressively raising CAFE standards, saving consumers energy costs.
- Encouraging investment in the relatively new market of renewable energy, encouraging economic growth and expansion of the economy.
... all the while bolstering our national security interests by decreasing our dependance on imported energy?
I'm thinking, thinking ... help! Are there any reasons not to do these things and more, save the non-sequitur argument, "But we don't even know for sure if we're causing global warming."
